Alaska's incumbent US Senator Lisa Murkowksi took the lead over Joe Miller as Alaska Division of Elections updated the total vote tallies for both absentee and the write-in count Monday afternoon. Murkowski now has 92,164 votes to Miller's 90,458 votes, a lead of 1,706 votes.

Murkowski slipped into a one vote lead early in the day when the lunchtime tally update put her at 87,528 votes to the latest number of 87,527 from Friday for Miller. However as updated numbers came in at the end of the 6th day of counting Murkowski's lead grew to a clear difference as the 2 candidates' vote tallies have been counted side-by-side for the first time.

Miller currently has 90,448 regular votes, plus 10 write-in votes.
Murkowski currently has 84,563 uncontested votes, and 7,601 contested but counted votes.

More absentee votes are expected in Wednesday, with final results expected by the end of the week.
