AEL&P will be testing the flood warning system for the Salmon Creek area on Thursday at between 11am and noon. The system is used to warn of a flood should there be a problem at the dam at the head of the Salmon Creek valley that is used to store water for power and city water supply.
The test will include 2 sets of sirens located at Salmon Creek; the Emergency Alert System which will activate city-wide on TV and radio - and may be seen in other areas of Southeast also; and a phone dialer system used to automatically call businesses and residences in the area.
